It's been one week since we saw our son's pictures for the first time! We are still so excited and can't stop looking at his face!
A lot of people have asked the question, "What's Next?", or "When do you get to bring him home?", so I thought I'd write a short post about that this morning before I head off to work. We sent in our acceptance paperwork last Friday and it will be heading to Ethiopia this Friday. After that, we wait for all of his documents to be collected and for a court date to be assigned to us. Once we know the date that we will appear in court, we will start to plan our first trip to Ethiopia! When we arrive, we will be able to visit our son a few times and then we will appear before the judge and make it legal! After that, we will return home and wait for approval from the US Embassy to travel a second time to pick him up! (a new birth certificate, passport, and visa must be issued before he can leave the country) Then, we will all travel home together and finally become a family of three!
There is no set timeline for this process, so we will just simply wait until we hear that we have been submitted to court and then that we have a court date! It could be many months before we are home, so we are just taking it one step at a time!
Have a great day!
